Vogue 1102
I originally made #Vogue1102 for a banquet in November 2019. It was going to be a wearable muslin. I had the pattern in my stash for over a year, maybe two. So when the occasion came up and I knew I didn't want a RTW (ready to wear) dress, I pulled out this pattern and some red fabric that was gifted to me by my mother-in-law and got to sewing.
It turned out great, but I didn't have enough fabric for the circle skirt and there were some imperfections since I was sort of short on time. So I knew immediately that I wanted a re-do.
I knew I wanted navy and white polka dot and I knew Walmart had a cotton that would be perfect. And I was going to do the full circle skirt.
My vision came together perfectly. I love the dramatic bow in the back. Con: this is not a pattern you can easily wear a bra with so I added foam cups to the dress itself. I could only tack the cups in though because they were very thick and hard to get through with a needle. This is not your everyday dress of course, but for that special occasion, this dress is perfect. I love the circle skirt.
The circle skirt gives it the extra touch to push this dress over the top. There's a gapping issue in the neckline and back with the bodice. Making a smaller size helped some. Overall I love this pattern and give a 9 out of 10.
