TrueBias Lodo Dress

🌻 My new favorite “T-Shirt Dress” pattern!!

I first made this dress over a year ago in a burnt orange dimple knit. Well I’m finally getting back around to making it again and I’m hooked.

It takes about 1.5-2 yards of fabric but I’ve actually even made a couple tunics that took about 1 yard. I’ve had so many 1-2yards pieces of fabric that I didn’t really know what to do with and then 1 day I sewed up 3 dresses in a day. I actually did some bulk pattern cutting.. so you’ll be seeing a lot of this dress in the coming weeks.

It has 2 main pattern pieces and 3 facing pieces. The neckline is a little deep so I made an adjustment in several makes. After reading some descriptions in other people’s makes, I’ll be making the rest of my makes by using a smaller size for the neckline. Thank you genius sewing community!

The only thing this pattern is missing is pockets 😉.

I think I’ll be packing nothing but #lododress for my next vacation!

Head over to my IG to check out my other Lodos!

Fave Pattern of 2020

🌻 My favorite pattern of 2020 was definitely the York Pinafore by Helen's Closet! I'm on #9 and already have plans for #10 and #11 and #12.. Denim,

Olive Green and Ruby Red Corduroy. Oh and I definitely need a yellow one.

🌻  I'm not sure what # this one is but it was my top IG post. I made it out of this upholstery fabric and it came out cuter than I could've imagined!

Bling Face Mask

🌻 This mask almost didn't get done.

🌻 I received a request for a blinged out mask and I had an image in mind that I was trying to replicate. I gave up after my first and second methods failed. I was preparing to text my customer the following morning but when I woke up, another idea popped in my head. It came together like I hoped.

🌻 Sometimes it helps to just walk away.

vogue 1102

🌻 I love the dramatic bow in the back. Con: this is not a pattern you can easily wear a bra with so I added foam cups to the dress itself. I could only tack the cups in though b/c they are very thick and hard to get through with a needle.

🌻This is not your everyday dress of course, but for that special occasion, this dress is perfect. I love the circle skirt. I only had enough fabric to do a gathered skirt in my first make of this dress. The circle skirt gives it the extra touch to push this dress over the top. There's a gapping issue in the back with the bodice. Making a smaller size helped some.

Vogue 1585

🌻 Sew I wore this Vogue dress to a Herbie Hancock concert on Dayton, OH.

🌻This is one of those patterns you really have to be confident in. While at the concert, a young lady complimented me and I told her I made it. She said "Oh really?!" She said she went to design school so she gets fashion and she really loved it!

🌻I really enjoyed the concert, but she was the highlight of my night.

🌻I like that it looks simple but cute. I love the curved hem at the arms and hemline. I also like the boat neckline. I didn't like the facings and how much extra fabric it seemed the leave.

Earrings

🌻 During this pandemic, I was able to tap into my creative side even more. I had been wanted to make DIY jewelry for quite awhile. I had saved some ideas on Pinterest at least a year ago but, didn't get around to working on any projects.

🌻 The first several weeks of the pandemic was spent making tons of face masks. But now that most people have masks, the demand has gone down and I've been able to work on my craft.

🌻 These earrings are just one of the projects that I've been working on. I'm so excited to see what idea pops in my head next!!

🌻 I love everything about this pattern. I've made several and plan to make one in as many colors as I can. Yellow is my favorite color. I also have white, army green, royal blue, fuschia, pink/black/white stripe.

🌻 My sewing essentials.. Sewing is like my meditation. During these times of pandemic, I'm thankful to have something that brings me peace..

🌻Another favorite pattern of mine this Summer is Simplicity 8046. I made 1 for myself last Summer and gave it away and I made a few for other people. This Summer I made it in this lovely green knit fabric that I purchased from Fields Fabric of Kalamazoo, MI. I think green was my color this Summer!

isn't she lovely..

🌻Here's my dear cousin Sherry in a dress I made using Simplicity Cynthia Rowley pattern D0752. I made one for myself back in 2017 and I had semi-retired this pattern due to the very time consuming pleats but I'm so glad she asked me to make it because it reminded me how much I loved this pattern when I first saw it and fell in love with it.

Doesn't she just look.. LOVELY!
